The purpose of the Mystic Valley Elder Services GAP Endowment Fund is to provide financial resources that will help sustain unfunded and underfunded programs and services necessary to fulfill the mission of Mystic Valley Elder Services in its designated communities served. Programs and services that are funded fully or in part through annual interest earned on the endowment fund are those in which there are not adequate public resources to meet the demonstrated needs of older adults, adults living with disabilities and their caregivers in the communities served.

One of the long term need areas funded through the Mystic Valley Elder Services GAP Endowment Fund since its creation is the provision of financially subsidized home care services for older adults and adults living with disabilities who fall into State Home Care Program service eligibility gaps. Government funded programs provide services to poor and frail older adults. Wealthy older adults purchase the services they need to live independently. But what happens to those low to moderate income people, who become sick or need assistance and fall in the eligibility “gap”. These people are living on a fixed income and don’t have enough money to privately pay for services. Or they are in need of help to live independently yet not considered frail enough to qualify for state subsidized home care services.

Some additional need areas funded in whole or part through annual interest earned on the Mystic Valley Elder Services GAP Endowment Fund include the Money Management Program, the Mobile Mental Health Program, Transportation Program and more.
