On Giving Tuesday, Help Your Neighbors in Need
Today is Giving Tuesday, recognized around the world as a day to promote charitable giving. It’s also an important day in Mystic Valley Elder Services’ mission, because we rely on people like you to help us support our neighbors in need.
Please consider donating to Mystic Valley Elder Service (MVES) if:
- You want to support those facing serious need, while still keeping your donation local
- Regardless of the size of your donation, you want to make an immediate, meaningful impact in someone’s life
- Fostering change in your own community is important to you
Since 1975, MVES has championed independence for a population that is too often overlooked and underserved: older adults and adults with disabilities. In our own communities, many older adults and adults with disabilities are struggling every day. They lack resources that most of us take for granted, from obtaining nutritious food to securing transportation to medical appointments.
Every year at MVES:
- Thousands of residents rely on us for nutrition, including home-delivery of hundreds of thousands of meals.
- Our team handles over 7,000 calls and emails, connecting residents to the resources and care they need.
- We provide nearly 2 million hours of in-home services that enable older adults and adults with disabilities to remain in their homes and communities.
But we can’t do it without your help. While we always rely on donations to support underfunded programs, future funding is especially uncertain right now. Your support will help us continue to assist our neighbors in need, such as:
Carlo from Medford, whose mattress was in tatters and made his arthritis unbearable, until we helped him secure a brand-new bed.
Sandra from Chelsea, who thought her only choices after surgery were to remain hospitalized indefinitely or try to cope on her own at home – until we connected her with meal delivery and in-home services.
Janice and Bill from Stoneham, who feared they’d have to give up their lifelong home because they couldn’t afford wheelchair access, until our Independence Fund stepped in.
For decades, Mystic Valley Elder Services has strived to fill the gap when funding falls short of the needs of older adults and people with disabilities.
Will you help us this Giving Tuesday?
While we are grateful for large donations, we rely on contributions of all sizes. Your $20, $100, or $500 donation might cover the cost of long-needed dental work, enable someone to move their belongings to a wheelchair-friendly apartment, buy a wig for a patient in chemotherapy or even provide daily essentials like blankets and toilet paper. But have no doubt — it will change someone’s life.
With Giving Tuesday and the “Season of Giving” upon us, we hope you will you join us in supporting your neighbors in need. Click the Donate button below to change a life today.
