Text at top “It’s OK…” and bottom “It’s OK to not be OK.” With 3 illustrations of older adults. One says, To be upset about health problems. One says, To feel down or lonely. One says, To struggle with losing a loved one.

Mental health can be a sensitive topic, but it doesn’t have to be. We all deal with emotions, stress and other factors that affect us. Mental health — also called behavioral health — is just as important as physical health. In fact, studies show that the two go hand in hand.

The aging journey can present unique challenges to wellness. While an estimated 1 in 4 older Americans has a behavioral health condition not associated with normal aging, less than 33 percent of this population receives services to address their diagnosis.

The Behavioral Health Program at Mystic Valley Elder Services is designed to connect older adults with the resources they need. Our team listens to what’s going on, assesses concerns and develops a personalized plan.

If you’re interested in behavioral health services and community supports, but you’re not sure of your next step, please visit our team during our behavioral health hours at the following senior centers. (Caregivers are also welcome.)
