At Mystic Valley Elder Services, volunteers are essential to enriching the lives of older adults and people with disabilities and supporting their independence. Through their time and compassion, our volunteers make an impact on individual lives and strengthen our community as a whole.
Volunteering is about practical help, but it’s also about connection. Whether a volunteer is helping someone understand health insurance options, sharing a warm welcome at a meal site or showing a neighbor how to access telehealth, their time together can be a powerful antidote to isolation.
Every April, we join nonprofits around the country in celebrating Volunteer Appreciation Month. This year, we honored our volunteers at a party at The Establishment in Medford.
We enjoyed delicious food, giveaways, games and tons of raffles donated by our generous local businesses. Best of all, we got to see these incredible people connecting through their volunteer experiences. (Check out more photos on our Facebook, Instagram or LinkedIn pages!)
One of our volunteers, who dedicates his time to our program while attending college, described his meaningful interactions with older adults and his bond with fellow volunteers.
“Through this journey, I have developed a deeper appreciation for the spirit of volunteerism,” he said.
