Meet Grace and Freddy.
Freddy is Grace’s service dog, and the two can often be spotted around town. After her car was badly damaged in a crash, Grace was concerned about replacing her vehicle, but she still needed transportation.
Inna Govorov, a Support Services Coordinator, went to work on a solution with her team at Mystic Valley Elder Services. They found a program that makes it easier for people to obtain an e-bike in Massachusetts. Inna helped Grace apply for the e-bike voucher program.
Grace was approved for an “e-trike,” which is a three-wheeled version of the e-bike that offers greater balance and stability. Like e-bikes, the e-trike has electric pedal assistance that makes it easier to tackle hills and longer trips.
Grace was thrilled, but she had one issue. How would she take her service dog with her? Inna went to work researching a solution and discovered trailers that can be attached to e-bikes and e-trikes. Inna helped her apply for a stipend from Little Necessities, a program that helps older adults acquire essential items and meet emergency needs. Grace was approved for the trailer, and today she and Freddy are back on the road.
Our team has many roles. One of the most important is listening to each individual and developing personalized solutions for their needs. We love how Inna approached this challenge and helped Grace and Freddy find a happy ending for their story!
